Welcome to my web site! I’m glad you found me. My name's Ann Shorey, but those who know me best call me Annie.
I was blessed to have a mother who read to me, and in so doing gifted me with a love of books that has defined my life. In school I spent as much time reading the novels hidden behind my textbooks as I did paying attention to my lessons. Guess that’s how I developed the ability to write stories in my head while working at day-to-day tasks.
My bio will give you more details about how that simple act grew into an amazing writing journey, which led to the release of my first historical fiction book, The Edge of Light.
I still read widely today—nonfiction, literary and general fiction, as well as books written for the inspirational market—you’ll find my blog will often highlight the most recent book I’ve read. Stop by and let me know whether you agree or disagree with my reviews.
When I’m not reading, working on my next historical novel, or replying to reader e-mail, you can find me outdoors enjoying beautiful southwestern Oregon. Our community rests in one of the Hundred Valleys of the Umpqua, which is the name of the river that runs through our county from the Cascade Mountains to the Pacific Ocean. If there’s a paradise here on earth, I believe we live smack in the middle of it. You can feel the history and the stories in this place every time you walk through the forest or listen to the rush of the river.
People often ask me what fuels the imagination of a Christian fiction author. Besides faith and an environment rich with history, I've found strong coffee—French Roast ground and brewed fresh— is excellent writing fuel. Oh yes, and next to coffee, you can't top a Harry & David’s dark chocolate truffle to boost the imagination!
Perhaps, like me, you're a chocolate aficionado, or a lover of history, or of Christian fiction, or just books in general—or all of the above. There’s nothing I like more than making new friends, and sharing the joys of life together, so while you’re here, find me on Facebook, or stop by my Contact Page and introduce yourself. I look forward to meeting you here online, or be sure to say hello at my next book signing.
Until then, I hope you’ll take the time to explore these pages, and come back soon.
